Get ready, Diablo fans! With the release of Diablo 4 fast approaching, Activision Blizzard has confirmed the details for the upcoming Diablo 3 Season 28, set to begin on February 24 at 5pm PT. As we eagerly await the new season’s launch, here’s everything you need to know about the latest content and what to expect in Season 28.
Season 28 Theme: Rites of Sanctuary
The Altar of Rites is the centerpiece of Season 28’s theme, which is the Rites of Sanctuary. Players are required to make sacrifices of certain materials at these locations to unlock significant power that will last for the entire season. These materials will be generated from Primordial Ashes, which can be obtained by scrapping Primal Items at the Diablo blacksmith. To upgrade non-crafted legendary items, players must collect 100 ashes, which are created by scrapping one Primal Item.
Limited-Time Rewards and Conquests
As with previous Diablo 3 seasons, players can expect limited-time rewards and conquests, as well as new class sets, bug fixes, and item adjustments. Season 28’s journey rewards include the Primal Hunter portrait frame and the Taennin the Tiny dragon pet, which can be used in future seasons to reflect the player’s efforts during the limited time they have in Season 28.

Diablo 3 Season 28’s Rites of Sanctuary are accompanied by Primordial Ashes, which are generated from scrapping Primal Items at the Diablo blacksmith, and they can be used to upgrade some equipment into Primal Items. While 55 ashes are created from scrapping one Primal Item, Diablo 3 players will have to reach 100 to upgrade their non-crafted legendary items. One of the primary draws for Diablo 3’s Season 27 follow-up may be the Primal Hunter portrait frame and Taennin the Tiny dragon pet that could be used in future seasons to reflect their efforts during the limited time they have in Season 28.
