The upcoming release of The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom promises to take place in the same Hyrule as its predecessor, Breath of the Wild, but with new and unique locations. The islands feature golden trees that cannot be found on the surface of Hyrule, and it’s possible that they could be connected to the Sacred Realm or Golden Land from The Legend of Zelda: A Link to the Past.
In addition to the sky islands, Tears of the Kingdom introduces new abilities for Link that allow him to fuse objects, rewind item trajectories, and traverse vertical landscapes with ease. The game also features the return of Breath of the Wild’s dragons and an overhauled blood moon, which has led fans to speculate about the game’s narrative direction.
Despite being shrouded in mystery, Tears of the Kingdom has already garnered attention and won awards ahead of its release on May 12, 2023, exclusively for the Nintendo Switch. With the promise of new and varied landscapes and unique environments, fans eagerly anticipate the full scope and narrative of Link’s next adventure.
