During its recent Silent Hill showcase, Konami officially presented the long-rumored Silent Hill 2 remake, confirming prior claims that Bloober Team is behind the development. We didn’t receive a release date, but it has been confirmed that the game will be available for both the PlayStation 5 and the PC. Silent Hill 2 seems to be delayed for at least a year on other systems.
Rather than a standard broadcast, Konami chose to release the whole presentation as a complete video, which is included below. The Silent Hill 2 trailer starts around the 10-minute mark, with James Sunderland in the public restrooms right at the start of the game. After that, we’re treated to a few minutes of classic Silent Hill 2 moments redone for PS5, as the video seems to be a mix of CG and in-game cutscenes.
While Konami would have preferred that this remain a surprise, it has been speculated for quite some time, and it was also leaked ahead of today’s revelation through a YouTube video released by Konami that mistakenly disclosed the video’s tags. As a result, we anticipated that other Silent Hill games will be shown off, including the Silent Hill 2 remake, whose teaser is posted below.
More information about the game was disclosed immediately after the trailer during the Silent Hill presentation, including the fact that both Masahiro Ito and Akira Yamaoka are collaborating on the project alongside Bloober Team. It was also announced that the Silent Hill 2 remake would have an over-the-shoulder camera perspective, new music and sound design, and that the primary director will be Mateusz Lenart, the creative director of The Medium.
Aside from the Silent Hill 2 Remake, Konami also revealed two new Silent Hill titles. Silent Hill: Townfall is being development by Annapurna Interactive and No Code, whereas Silent Hill: f is being marketed as a whole new Silent Hill game.
