Already More than 100 major video game releases are already planned for 2023, ranging from eagerly awaited RPGs like Starfield and The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom to new, mainline instalments in series like Final Fantasy and Street Fighter, as well as the long-awaited comeback of franchises like Diablo.
this list of the video games coming out in 2023 will be continually updated with new titles, new release dates, and games’ inevitable delays even though video game release dates are constantly in flux. Here is a glance at the games that will be released this year.
Dead Space remake
Release date: January 27, 2023
One of the greatest horror games of all time, the original Dead Space, is being remade, according to Motive Studios at EA. Although it has been “rebuilt” from the original content, this version does not have loading screens, doesn’t allow microtransactions, and could even have some more stuff that was omitted from the original. This will undoubtedly be the greatest iteration of the game to date and will only be available on new-gen consoles and PCs.
Hogwarts Legacy
Release date: February 10, 2023
Hogwarts Legacy is directly based on the mythos, even if it isn’t a literal adaptation of the Harry Potter books. Although you’ll be playing as a Hogwarts student in the 1800s—hundreds of years before Harry and his friends—you’ll undoubtedly cause plenty of wizardly mayhem. Since it’s an open-world RPG, there will be a lot to discover as well.
Wild Hearts
Release date: February 17, 2023
EA’s attempt at the Monster Hunter crown is called Wild Hearts. Wild Hearts is a large and gorgeous hunting game that is currently under development at Omega Force (a division of Koei Tecmo, best known for the Dynasty Warriors video game series). You and two friends will need to prepare, take stock of your surroundings, and then engage in a life-or-death struggle against some incredibly formidable monsters. We’re excited to see more of Wild Hearts in action since it looks fantastic.
Atomic Heart
Release date: February 21, 2023
We’ve been keeping an eye on Atomic Heart for a while now. This ambitious FPS-RPG combination by Mundfish has always seemed like it would be too wonderful to be true—almost like a weird mashup of the feelings that BioShock, Fallout, and Far Cry convey. But with Mundfish and publisher Focus Entertainment working together, Atomic Heart is finally within reach. The game will be released on February 21, 2023, and will also be available on Xbox Game Pass.
Like a Dragon: Ishin
Release date: February 21, 2023
Finally, Ry ga Gotoku Ishin! has reached the English-speaking regions. In 2014, the cult classic Yakuza video game was released for the PlayStation 3 and PlayStation 4, and in 2023, it will receive a complete remake with the new name Like a Dragon: Ishin. As this Yakuza spin-off transports us from contemporary Japan to the time of the samurai, expect plenty of ridiculous action.
Star Wars Jedi: Survivor
Release date: March 15, 2023
About five years after Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order, Cal Kestis and his little droid BD-1 continue their adventure in Star Wars Jedi: Survivor. This game, it seems, is all on surviving, and its tone will be much darker and scarier. We’ve just seen a teaser trailer so far, but we’re eager to see more.
Resident Evil 4 Remake
Release date: March 24, 2023
Resident Evil 4 is getting a remake. The much-rumored, eagerly awaited contemporary adaptation of the classic survival horror game would “preserve the spirit of the original game,” but update gameplay, “reimagine” the plot, and present graphics similar to those from the RE Engine in recent years.
The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom
Release date: May 12, 2023
With the addition of the ability to fly, Nintendo is extending Hyrule in The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom, bringing us back there for another adventure with Link. Even though the sequel’s gameplay, which has yet to receive an official name, was shown off at E3 2021, there is still a lot of uncertainty about what else it will contain, especially the plot. Nintendo recently revealed that the game, which was once planned for release in 2022, will now arrive in the spring of 2023.
Diablo 4
Release date: June 6, 2023
The release of Diablo 4 will include necromancers. Yes, it is the title’s fifth and last new class, and we also have a hazy release date to go with it. There will be more creatures, more abilities, Legendary treasure, and other things because the game is trying all it can to take what makes Diablo what it is and improve it. Diablo 4 will have unique PvP zones along with complete cross-play and couch co-op. Diablo 4 looks fantastic.
Final Fantasy 16
Release date: June 22, 2023
It’s now official: Final Fantasy 16 is coming. The terrain of Valisthea, where the story takes place, is covered in crystals known as Mothercrystals. These crystal towers envelop the globe in aether, which bestows magicks on the populace. Blight and dangerous monsters known as Eikons, however, have also overrun the planet and pose a threat to the dominions.
Baldur’s Gate 3
Release date: August 2023
Since Steam Early Access began in October 2020, Baldur’s Gate 3 has been developing, and now publisher Larian Studios is preparing to release the new RPG to the public. The Mind Flayers will make every effort to destroy your group in Baldur’s Gate 3 when it launches in August 2023. Through two years of Early Access, Larian has been making fantastic progress on the classic series, and we can’t wait to see how the finished product turns out.
